Property Information

The Moorings is a ground floor apartment on the edge of the water overlooking Cemaes Bay. Originally the ground floor was part of a house built for a ā€œSea Captainā€. The property has kept many of the original late Edwardian features.

The large shared garden forms part of the sea wall, allowing direct access to the beach. The costal path passes directly outside the garden gates providing great coastal walks in either direction.

Highly rated on TripAdvisor, it has breath taking views from its position on the edge of the idyllic villageĀ  of Cemaes.Ā  Less than 5 minutes walk to the shops, pubs and cafes.

The Moorings provides an ideal base for exploring the area. The large garden provides plenty of space for kayaks, plus storage for bicycles, fishing and beach equipment. For the adventurous there is a small slipway steps away from the gate which provides excellent launching for small sailing dinghyā€™s and kayaks.

A fantastic location for a family holiday, walking, kayaking, sailing, cycling, birdwatching or fishing. A real versatile location !

Details / Description

The setting of The Moorings is really quite special, offering breath-taking sea views of Cemaes Bay across to National Trust land.

Whatever time of the year, this beautiful property offers exceptional views of the harbour and Cemaes Bay from the sunroom, lounge and two of the bedrooms.

Cemaes is a small fishing village with colourful houses, shops (Post Office, pharmacy, village stores) pubs, cafes and a Doctors surgery. It is located on the north coast of Anglesey and is a good starting point for coastal walks and bird watching. There is a nature reserve a few miles away at Cemlyn which is renowned for its bird watching and Church Bay further along the coast boasts a lovely beach with bistros serving locally caught lobster and crab.

At the eastern end of the village is a broad, flat, sandy beach which offers a great venue for sunbathing, swimming and water sports.

This apartment can sleep up to 9, book in combination with The View @ The Moorings to accommodate a group of up to 14.

  • The Moorings has the best seaside view. We spent hours watching the sea, wildlife, sports people, dogs, children and beachcombers enjoying the perfect sheltered and safe beach.

    September 2021

  • Just returned from a week’s holiday at The Moorings (ground floor apartment). The location is superb – such a lovely sea view from many of the rooms, especially the dining room and the garden, which is huge. We loved the ladder with access to the beach. The house is very comfortable and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. It’s also great to have somewhere with 3 bathrooms. Great customer service from Coastal Holidays. Would thoroughly recommend both them and the property. We’ve already booked to go back next year!

    July 2021

  • Repeat visitors here and once again, the view just makes this place. It is airy and well configured for an old house. Bedroom 3 at back is very small but comfy and each bedroom can have a seperate bathroom if needed. We are adventure seeking people and it’s brilliant to go cycling, kayaking, swimming, snorkelling, walking, coasteering and sea jumping (If you know what you are doing). It’s at the quiet end of the bay but within easy reach of the shops etc…. 5 min walk.
If you just want to chill, there are multiple places to do this, like the side decking with great BBQ (please clean for future guests), the gardens, the elevated decking overlooking the bay or the sun room which also has great views around 2 sides of the house, both to the bay.
Look, this place could do with a slightly bigger kitchen and more room in 1 bedroom but everything else counts that out. It’s brill and we will definately be using it again. The lounge is huge with a lovely old fireplace (Log burner) if needed in the colder months. The owners leave you to it but are always there if something went wrong. Coastal are very good agents as well and keep on top of any enquiries in what has been a difficult year for the travel and holiday industry. The view (Top Flat) which is slightly smaller is also brilliant! You are literally on the edge of the beach.
    Thanks again.

  • The Property: A lovely property in a fantastic location overlooking the bay
We took the downstairs apartment which offered comfy beds and plenty of room to spread out, with garden to rear and a great little veranda to the side for coffee time or lunch. The lounge area is very cosy with full size TV and and a variety seating
Owners provide full kitchen utilities and a washer and dryer. with extremely helpful owners if assistance is ever required.,

Location: The walks on the cliffside are to die for and there are several decent restaurants close by the ‘Gladys’, less than a mile away , we found the best quality in terms location atmosphere and food good and the ‘Trecastle’ in Bull Bay also decent. We did not try the local pub The Stagg, as it was a little too small for social distancing.

Last., but not least, we found excellent service from Coastal Holidays.

A good time had by all.

    Sept 2020

  • Lovely apartment with a view to die for. Spacious, clean and well equipped. We will definitely return

    Oct 2020

  • Fantastic holiday. Loved Cemaes Bay and loved The Moorings. The house was well equipped and the service was excellent. We are already looking forward to returning.

    Sept 2020

  • This property was bright and clean and spacious with many pleasant aesthetic touches. The views from many of the rooms as well as from the garden are fantastic. It was wonderful to be able to climb out of the garden over the stile and scramble down the rocks to the sea. With 2 young people suffering badly with CFS/ME we only left Cemaes itself once, and they hardly left the property, but there was still plenty to appreciate and for the healthier members of the family to enjoy too.

    August 2020

  • The Moorings was a perfect venue for holiday. Its’ location is perfect, on the coastal path and overlooking the ever changing scenes of a coastal bay. We four ladies go away each year for a catch up. After our walks we relaxed with books admiring the peaceful outlook. The house is perfectly appointed with every requirement you could think of. There is a good convenience store and a cafe that serves good food. The only down side was that we were only there for 3 days!! As the saying goes ‘We will return’

    Sept 2019

  • First stayed in The Moorings in February 2017 when storm Doris hit the coast. The property was up for sale at the time.

New owners have done a great job of giving the house new life, looks much better with its new paint job, great ensuite and fabulous shower!

Weā€™ve had a great week, weather got better and better. Long walk to Bull Bay via porcelain works and brick works, well earned pint at the pub before being picked up. Saw a seal, lizard and lots of nesting sea birds.

Fishing as usual, no fish. Two dog fish caught in the bay near powerstation. And of course, we got crabs on the crab lines. Gobis and shrimps in the rock pools

    April 2019

  • Weā€™ve had an amazing 3 weeks here and having stayed at the Moorings for several years, have really appreciated the improvements made so far. Cant wait to see whatā€™s next.

    Will be back next year!

    Aug 2018

  • A great week with fab weather. Thank you, weā€™ll be back.
Ps the bay view hotel and restaurant is lovely, booking recommended.

    July 2018

  • Lots of quiet reading, resting areas- the side decking was a real suntrap in the afternoon!
Highly recommend the Stingray Fishing trip down on the harbour Ā£20pp Kids also loved the park. 5 mins walk

    July 2018

  • A very well stocked house, the kitchen equipment is amazing ā€“ do check around before you buy anything. We luckily had lovely weather so enjoyed the gardens! BBQ etc.

Bins ā€“ we put the relevant bins out and they only emoted recycling ā€“ Good luck with thatā€™s.

Bathroom tap a little loose be careful before you turn it off.

Gorgeous decking area at the top! Enjoy

    Gorgeous layout. Conservatory layout amazing!

The small shed is really well stocked = have a look before you buy

    Aug 2018

  • The Moorings is simply a wonderful place to stay ā€“ the location is just perfect! We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here ā€“ spent mainly kayaking around the bays nearby, but also just sitting back and enjoying the stunning views from the house.

Thank you so much for keeping the house so well stocked ā€“ the childrenā€™s toys and the ā€˜dot-to-dotā€™ books were particularly popular this week, we never sort of activities to choose from!

Top Tip ā€“ the crabs round here love bacon! ā€“ there are plenty of crabbing lines and buckets ( as well as a whole host of other useful items) in the shed. Oh and the outside shelter is just brilliant for hanging up wet wet suits and life jackets ā€“ so useful.

Thank you for a fantastic week ā€“ we hope to be back again very soon!

    Aug 2018

  • Just come back from April bank holiday weekend at the Lower Flat The Moorings and we all really loved it. Waking up to the sea in your back garden is just magical, its a lovely place and there’s always logs for fire and bits in kitchen cupboards which you don’t get in normally get with a letting place also games and books for the kids . Really really lovely holiday And will definitely go back again .

    April 2017

  • Stayed at the Lower Flat, The moorings in July 2015 and have already booked our next break. A fantastic house with all the comforts and facilities that you would expect- microwave, toaster, ironing board, washer, dryer etc but what makes this house really special is it’s location and the amazing views of the bay. The house has beautiful views, especially from the dining room. The back garden is literally on the beach. Straight over the garden steps and you’re on the beach. Even in the summer holidays the beach was empty and felt like part of the back garden. If you get bored of the beach there are plenty of places to go for day trips and in walking distance are shops, a pub and a great park with a very fast zip wire. Go out the back garden and you will find yourself on a beautiful coastal path which goes on for miles. The kids absolutely loved this house and the surroundings as did the adults and it made for the perfect holiday.

    July 2015

  • Exceeded all expectations! The outside area allowed the kids to play safely and the adults the opportunity to relax, taken the views and appreciate the fantastic weather from the well placed areas of raised decking. Access to the beach could not be easier and the locale services just up the road. We all had a great stay.

    June 2016

  • “The property was large and spacious with great views. We had a great time there and would definitely stay there again. ”

    Sept 2015

  • “This is the 3rd year we’ve hired this house and it’s lovely. A perfect location and an amazing view. ”

    Aug 2015

  • “Our family had a wonderful stay at the moorings. The children loved the toy room and the adults loved the views and comfort of the flat. We particularly liked the conservatory where we spent most of the time when not out at the beach which is so close it was perfect for the little ones to access. I am currently in the process of booking for next year.”
